Passive Electronic Component Handbook by Charles A. Harper, The Definitive Technical Resource on Passive Components! Here's the fully updated and revised edition of the most comprehensive standard reference on electronic components--and the first such revision in over 15 years! It gives electronics engineers, designers, and technicians quick, reliable one-volume access to critical characteristic data, performance curves, and design guidelines. The full range of component technologies is covered, including resistors, capacitors, transformers, relays and switches, batteries, fuse and protective components, filters and transient voltage protection devices, wiring and cabling, connectors, and enabling devices. More than a mere rehashing of manufacturer specs, this unique handbook provides working electronics professionals and mechanical engineers with the practical data they need to more effectively select optimal components for their intended functional performance in virtually any electronics system. Along with its companion volume, the Active Electronic Component Handbook, this resource belongs on every designer's bookshelf.
Burn-In: An Engineering Approach by Finn Jensen, This book shows how to deal with the early failures that invariably plague product manufacturers whether the product be components or complete systems, electronic or mechanical devices. The text provides a basic understanding of why failure patterns appear as they do in real life and then shows how to cope with the problem on a sound engineering basis. Burn-in is used to eliminate early failures in components or systems and the book shows how to analyse and plan a burn-in procedure, balancing the needs of reliability and cost. The models that are presented are simple but they do nevertheless cover a large number of practical situations. The book is the outcome of a research project initiated at the Engineering Academy of Denmark and sponsored jointly by the Danish Council of Technology and a number of Danish manufacturing companies within the electronics and electromechanical industry. It is written primarily for the practising reliability engineer who needs to know about the techniques and benefits of performing burn-in on components, subassemblies, or complete systems.
Electronic component - An electronic component is a basic electronic building block packaged in a discrete form with two or more connecting leads or metallic pads. The components are intended to be connected together, usually by soldering to a printed circuit board, to create an electronic circuit with a particular function (for example an amplifier, radio receiver, or oscillator). Driver (electronic component) - Driver (electronic component) - an electronic component (for instance, integrated circuit), used to control another electorinic component (for instance, a high power transistor). This term is used for naming the specialised chip that control the high power transistors in the DC/DC voltage converters. Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems - Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems was created by the acquisition of Westinghouse Electronic Systems Group in 1996. The Electronic Systems sector is a leading designer, developer, and manufacturer of a wide variety of advanced defense electronics and systems. Passive component - A passive component is an electronic component that does not require a source of energy to perform its intended function. Examples of passive components include resistors, capacitors, inductors, and diodes.
